Meet Dr. White

Prior to becoming a licensed clinical and sport psychologist, Dr. White’s career has spanned a variety of other roles that have influenced him as a clinician, including being an athlete, a coach, and a mental performance consultant. As an Iowa native, Dr. White’s journey in sport began as a youth athlete traveling across the state and nation before earning a scholarship to compete as a Division I athlete at the University of Iowa. After his time as a Hawkeye, Dr. White began a career coaching tennis that lasted 10 years, across three states, to hundreds of athletes. In addition to being the head coach of the Christian Brother’s High School Varsity Tennis team in Tennessee, Dr. White coached numerous athletes to Division I, II, and III programs during his time coaching. ​

Dr. White has always been passionate about understanding the mental side of performance. He has a Master’s Degree in Sport and Performance Psychology from the University of Denver, a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Memphis, and completed his Postdoctoral training in Sport Psychology at Northwestern University Athletics. Dr. White has worked with clients of all ages in many different clinical settings. His clinical work emphasizes well-being and balance as the foundation for success in accomplishing individual goals and in treating mental health concerns. As a sport psychologist, Dr. White has worked with Division I and III student-athletes, professional athletes, Olympic athletes, and Division I National Championship winning teams. Dr. White also has experience working with graduate students and professional students, physicians, and business executives.

Dr. White believes that the foundation to success is rooted in life balance and well-being. By combining increased self-awareness/understanding with effective cognitive/emotional tools, Dr. White aims to help each individual not only accomplish their dreams, but to appreciate and enjoy the journey. Dr White's individual style centers on collaboration and authenticity. Just because one technique or strategy works for some, doesn't mean it works for you. Dr. White understands that you are the expert in your own life and will work with you to tailor interventions that are aligned with your goals and values.
